Each year, MACCC hosts a composition competition and invites entries from any community college student. Cash prizes are awarded for first and second places, but all students receive the comments of the judges to help them hone their compositional techniques. We urge all community college instructors who teach composition to encourage their students to submit their compositions. All entries should have: a full score; an audio recording (live recording or MIDI); completed entry form (found at our web site); and the entrance fee.

Please note that this year we are limiting the instrumentation to allow for a live performance. (See contest rules below)

DEADLINE FOR THE FALL 2009 COMPETITION IS JUNE 30, 2009.

Entries should be mailed to: Chauncey Maddren, Music Dept., Los Angeles Valley College, 5800 Fulton Ave., Valley Glen, CA 91401.
